Start heating oven to 425 degrees. Place 4 tablespoons butter in large baking pan, place in oven to melt. Remove from oven when melted.
In large bowl, put: 3 c. milk 4 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1 1/2 c. flour
Mix together beating lightly. Also pour extra melted butter from the pan into the mixture. Bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes. Bottom will be golden brown, top light and fluffy. Let stand 5 minutes, then brown top under broiler, if darker color is desired. Serve hot or cold with sugar, syrup or berry toppings.
