BANANA NUT CAKE 
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. mashed bananas
1 tsp. lemon juice
2/3 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1/2 c. nuts

Sift flour, baking powder, soda, salt and sugar together on waxed paper. Put bananas, lemon juice, buttermilk and shortening in large mixing bowl. Add the sifted ingredients to the above mixture. Then add eggs, vanilla and nuts. Bake in a well greased and floured pan (13 x 9 1/2 inches) for 30 to 35 minutes in a 350 degree oven. Use the following Lemon Frosting.

LEMON FROSTING:

1 1/2 boxes confectioner's sugar
3/4 stick butter
1/3 tsp. salt
2 tsp. grated lemon rind
Juice of 1 1/2 lemons
1/2 - 3/4 c. canned milk

Heat the milk and pour over the other ingredients. Mix well and then spread over the cooled cake.
