BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
25-30 med. cucumbers
8 lg. white onions
2 lg. sweet peppers
5 c. cider vinegar
1/2 c. salt
5 c. sugar
2 tbsp. mustard, whole spice
1 tsp. turmeric, whole spices
1/2 tsp. cloves, whole spice

Wash and slice thin cucumbers. Chop onions and peppers. Combine with cucumbers in a large bowl. Cover with salt. Let stand 3 hours. Drain. Combine vinegar, sugar and spices in a large kettle. Bring to a boil. Add drained cucumber mixture and bring to a boil. But Do Not Boil. Pack while hot in sterilized jars. Makes 7 pints.
