YEAST CAKE ROLLS
1 c. lukewarm water
1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. salt
1 c. hot water
1 c. cold water
1/2 c. shortening

Soak yeast cake (or powdered yeast) in lukewarm water and set aside. Put sugar, salt and shortening into mixing bowl. Pour hot water over mixture. When all is melted, pour in the cup of cold water. When this mixture is lukewarm add soaked yeast. Blend with enough flour to make medium dough, not too stiff. Knead until smooth and elastic. Place in greased bowl and cover well. Put in warm place and let rise double in size. Make into small rolls and let rise again. Bake at 425 degrees until done.
