SCALLOPED TOMATOES 
3 1/2 c. coarsely chopped, peeled fresh tomatoes
1/4 c. minced onion
2 tbsp. minced green pepper, if desired
1 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
1/2 tsp. sugar
2 c. cubed soft bread
2 tbsp. melted butter

Combine tomatoes, onion, green pepper, salt, pepper and sugar. In a 2-quart baking dish, place alternate layers of tomato mixture and bread crumbs, ending with bread cube layer. Drizzle top with melted butter. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-30 minutes. Serves 6.
