P.'S POPCORN BALLS | |
5 qts. popped popcorn 1/4 c. butter (1/4 cube), melted 2 tbsp. water 1 lb. powdered sugar (confectioners' sugar) 1 c. marshmallows 3/4 c. white corn syrup Red food coloring (optional), 2 to 3 drops Remove unpopped kernels from popcorn. In a 3 quart saucepan mix together the butter, water, white corn syrup, confectioners' sugar, marshmallows and food coloring. Cook over low heat (stirring constantly) until mixture comes to a boil. Pour 1/3 of candy mixture over 1/3 of popcorn, toss and stir to coat popcorn. Dampen hands with cold water, and form coated popcorn into balls (pack lightly do not press until firm). Repeat process until all of the candy coating is used. Popped popcorn may be increased to 6 quarts if less coating is desired. |
