2 c. chopped dates
1 c. sugar
1 3/4 c. water
2 rounded tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. salt

Mix flour, sugar and salt together. Add hot water, dates and cook until thick.

COOKIE DOUGH:

2 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
2 unbeaten eggs
2 tbsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt in flour
