ORANGE SLICE CAKE 
1 pkg. yellow or butter cake mix
8 oz. candied cherries, chopped or whole
1 c. coconut
1 c. pecans
1 c. English walnuts
1 c. dates, cut up
1 lb. orange slice candy, cut in sm. pieces
1/8 c. flour

Mix the cake mix according to directions on the package.

Add coconut, nuts, dates, orange slices. Before adding this to the mixture, sprinkle each item as it is added with a little flour and mix this. Keeps the fruit from all sticking in the same wad. (This needs to be done in a separate bowl. When the fruit is all floured, then gradually add it to the cake mix.

Bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour or until tester comes out clean.

This fruit mixture takes a large mixing bowl and this is best when baked in 2 loaf pans that have been greased and have a piece of brown paper sack in the bottom, to keep from sticking and then floured.
