GUMDROP APPLESAUCE CAKE 
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. applesauce
1 c. raisins
1 c. walnuts
2 c. sour milk (regular milk with 1 1/2 tbsp. vinegar added)
1 tsp. salt
3 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. allspice
3 tsp. baking soda
3 tbsp. cocoa
Small bag gumdrops (no black ones)

Cut gumdrops into pieces, set aside. In large bowl, cream shortening, sugar, add applesauce, raisins, and nuts. Mix thoroughly and then fold in milk mixture. Sift remaining ingredients together, add to batter. Fold in gumdrops. Pour batter into prepared pan (pan that has been oiled and floured). Bake in 375 degree oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
