CHOCOLATE POUND CAKE 
1 c. (2 sticks) butter
1/2 c. shortening
3 c. sugar
5 eggs
3 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
4 heaping tsp. cocoa
1 c. milk
1 tbsp. vanilla

Cream butter, shortening and sugar together thoroughly. Add eggs. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Add vanilla.

Bake in a well-greased and floured tube cake pan at 325°F for 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Icing:

2/3 stick butter, creamed
2/3 (1 lb.) box confectioners' sugar, sifted
1 heaping tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. hot coffee (optional)

Mix well the butter and confectioners' sugar, adding the cocoa, vanilla and hot coffee gradually.
