HEARTY LENTIL SOUP 
1 1/2 c. lentils
2 c. chicken or beef broth
4 c. water
1 c. chopped onion
1 c. diced celery
1 c. sliced carrots
1/2 c. chopped cabbage
1 c. grated potato
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. thyme
1 tsp. Spike seasoning

Wash and drain lentils. In a 4 quart pan, bring water to boil. Add all ingredients, except Spike. Cover and simmer slowly about 45 minutes until lentils and vegetables are tender. Stir occasionally. Season to taste. Makes about 9 cups.
