DARK MOIST BRAN MUFFINS
2 c. whole wheat flour
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1-1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
2 tbsp. butter
1-1/2 c. pure bran
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. buttermilk or sour milk
1/2 c. dark molasses

Combine dry ingredients and mix well. Combine buttermilk, baking soda, egg, molasses and butter: add all at once to dry ingredients. Stir to moisten flour mixture. Bake in greased and floured muffin pans at 350 degrees for about 15 to 20 minutes. Makes about 3-1/2 dozen.

If you do not want to bake all the muffins at one time, mixture will keep several weeks in a covered container in the refrigerator.

What is pure bran? I have oat bran. Will that work? I noticed some of your bran muffins call for bran flakes. Is that the boxed cereal from the grocery store? I had a recipe from the 60's I have misplaced, but this sounds a lot like it.
