DATE ROLL COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
3 eggs
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon

Boil about 1 1/2 cups dates (cut up) in 3/4 cup water and 1/2 cup sugar. Boil until thick, then cool. Roll out dough and spread the cooled dates over the dough. Roll up the dough like a jelly roll and cool 3 or 4 hours. Slice and bake at 350 degrees until brown.
