WALNUT OR PECAN FILLING | |
1 3/4 c. sweet milk 5 heaping tbsp. flour 1/2 c. sugar Mix sugar, flour, add milk slowly until smooth, cook in double boiler or heavy pot, until thick paste. Cream 1 cup butter (2 sticks), 1 1/4 cups sugar, mix well. Add to paste. Add 1/2 cup chopped nuts and 1 teaspoon vanilla or walnut flavoring. Spread between 2 cool and split layers - cut side up (4 pieces). |
