UPSIDE DOWN APPLE TART | |
1/2 c. butter 1 c. granulated sugar 6 tart apples, peeled, cored, sliced Pastry for 1 crust Whipping cream, whipped or Cool Whip Spread softened butter over the bottom of a shallow baking dish (about 2 inches deep). Sprinkle generously with some of the sugar. Arrange the apples on top of the butter and sugar. Melt rest of butter and stir in remaining sugar and lightly sift about 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon over the apples and drizzle the butter and sugar mix over the apples. Top with the pastry, cut to fit baking dish. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes or until apples are golden and done. Remove from oven and loosen edges of crust. Cool slightly. Place plate over dish and turn upside down quickly. Serve with whipped cream or Cool Whip or ice cream. |
