BOSTON BROWN BREAD 
1 1/2 c. water
1 c. raisins
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. butter
1 egg
2 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts

Boil water and raisins for 3 minutes. Cool. Cream sugar and butter. Add egg, water and raisins, flour soda and vanilla. Beat well. Add nuts. Grease and flour soup cans or bread pans. Fill 1/2 full. Bake 1 hour and 5 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove from pans immediately.
