DROP SUGAR COOKIE 
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg

Sift dry ingredients together. Cream butter and shortening. Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla and egg. Add flour mixture and milk.

Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheets. Flatten with bottom of a glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes until edges are lightly browned.

Makes 5 1/2 dozen 2 inch cookies.
