APPLE SLICES 
3 c. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. shortening
1 egg plus 1 egg yolk
1 1/2 tbsp. lemon juice
7 1/2 tbsp. cold water
10 to 12 medium sliced apples
1 1/2 c. sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
5 tbsp. flour
3 tbsp. tapioca
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. nutmeg

Mix Crust: Beat together flour, salt and shortening. Add to this egg, egg yolk, lemon juice and cold water.

Mix Filling: Mix together apples, sugar, salt, flour, tapioca, cinnamon and nutmeg.

Roll dough in 2 oblong crusts. Cover cookie sheet with 1 crust and fill with apple mixture. Cover with second crust and seal edges.

Bake at 375°F on center rack for 30 minutes or until lightly brown.

Frosting:

2 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
vanilla to flavor
milk

Mix well and spread over top. Frosting should be thin.
