WHOLE WHEAT BISCUITS 
1 pkg. yeast
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. all-purpose flour
2 c. whole wheat flour

Heat milk until lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in milk. Mix dry ingredients and cut in shortening. When milk is cool, add to dry ingredients to form stiff dough. Make into biscuits. Let rise. Can be refrigerated for several days.
