APRICOT CAKE 
1/2 lb. butter
3 c. flour
3 egg yolks (separate eggs)
1/3 c. granulated sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 pt. sour cream
1 lemon rind

Mix all ingredients, then divide the dough. Two-thirds of the dough goes in the bottom of the pan, then the rest to make criss-cross stripes on the top. On the two-thirds dough, spread apricot filling, then beat 3 egg whites, 1/3 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 2 cups of walnuts (chopped fine). Put criss-cross dough stripes on the top. Bake at 375 degrees about 30 to 40 minutes, test the dough to make sure it is done. You may use any kind of fruit spread, such as raspberries, strawberries, etc.
