LEMON NUT BREAD 
1/4 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tbsp. grated lemon peel
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. lemon juice

Cream butter and the 3/4 cup sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs and lemon peel; beat well. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Stir in walnuts. Pour into greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bake 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Combine the 2 tablespoons sugar and lemon juice; spoon over hot bread. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Makes 1 loaf.

I thought 400 degrees for an hour sounded like too hot for too long, but that's what the recipe said. After 45 minutes mine was starting to burn, and my oven is accurate. The bread tastes good, but you definitely need to reduce the heat on this.
