SKY-HIGH BISCUITS 
2 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. whole wheat flour
4 1/2 tbsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
3/4 c. butter
1 egg, beaten
1 c. milk

1. Combine dry ingredients in a bowl.

2. Cut in butter until mixture is coarse as cornmeal.

3. Add egg and milk quickly and knead lightly on floured board.

4. Roll or pat gently to 1 inch thickness. Cut into 1 to 2 inch biscuits. Place in a greased 9 inch square pan. For crusty biscuits, separate on a cookie sheet.

5. Bake at 450 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.
