2/3 c. butter
1 c. buttermilk
3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 c. boiling water
2 c. sugar
5 tbsp. cocoa
2 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
1/4 tsp. salt

Cream shortening and sugar.

Sift flour, cocoa and salt together several times. Add flour mixture and buttermilk alternately in small amounts to butter and sugar mixture.
