GOLDEN APPLE STREUSEL PIE | |
1 (9") pastry pie shell 1 egg, separated 1/4 c. sugar 2 tbsp. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. dairy half & half sour cream 1/2 tsp. vanilla 4 c. pared, cored & chopped Delicious apples 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Brush pastry shell with beaten egg white and bake for 7 minutes. 3. In a layer bowl, combine sugar, flour and salt. Stir in half and half sour cream, remainder of egg white, egg yolk and vanilla. Beat until smooth, stir in apples, spoon into pastry shell and bake 45 minutes. Sprinkle with streusel topping over apples and bake 15 minutes or until knife inserted comes out clean. Serve warm or chilled. STREUSEL TOPPING: 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. cinnamon 3 tbsp. butter In a small bowl combine first 3 ingredients. Cut in butter and mix well until topping is crumbly. Makes 8 servings. |
