APPLE - FILLED SQUASH HALVES 
2 acorn squash
1 lb. ground beef
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tart apples, pared & coarsely chopped (2 c.)
1/4 c. raisins
4 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. butter, melted

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Cut each squash in half. Remove seeds and fibers. Place halves cut side down in ungreased baking pan. Add water to a depth of 1/4 inch. Bake uncovered until squash is tender, 30-40 minutes.

Brown ground beef. Drain off fat. Remove skillet from heat; stir in 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, cinnamon, apples and raisins. Scoop out pulp from acorn squash shells leaving 1/4 inch thick wall in each. Salt shells, mash pulp; mix into meat mixture and pile into shells. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon brown sugar on each. Drizzle with butter. Bake uncovered 20-30 minutes.
