CARAMEL CANDY 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. sugar, caramelized
2/3 c. milk
1/3 stick butter

Heat the milk and sugar, then add caramelized sugar. Cook until a small ball forms when a drop is put in a cup of cold water. Remove from heat, add butter and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Let stand 15 minutes. Beat until practically cool. Add nuts if desired, spread on a buttered dish.
