PRUNE SPICE BARS 
1/2 to 3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. cooked prune pulp or baby fruit prunes
1 1/2 c. cake flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sour milk
1/2 c. broken nutmeats

Beat the shortening, adding the sugar gradually. Beat until light and then add and beat the eggs, 1 at a time. Beat in the prunes. Sift the dry ingredients. Add them alternately with the sour milk to the shortening-sugar mixture. Stir in the broken nutmeats. Bake in a 15 x 10 inch or 9 x 13 inch pan for at least 30 minutes in a 375 degree oven. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar or unboiled icing flavored with rum.
