CHERRY CROWNS | |
1 c. butter 1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese 1 c. sugar 1 egg yolk 1 tsp. almond extract 2 1/2 c. flour 1 egg white 1 c. ground pecans Maraschino cherries, halved and drained Blend together butter and cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar, then slightly beaten egg yolk and almond extract. Stir in flour. Chill dough, if necessary, to make easily handled mixture. Form into 1 inch balls, dipping tops in slightly beaten egg white. dip in ground nuts. Place on cookie sheet (nut side up). Bake at 350 degrees or about 12 minutes. Take out of oven then take off cookie sheet. Quickly add maraschino cherries, pressing them into center of cookie, round side up. Press gently to avoid shattering cookie. Makes 5 dozen. |
