MAX'S RUSSIAN DILLS 
Sterilize jars. Put clove of garlic in bottom and a head of dill. Layer 1/4 inch sliced, washed cucumbers in jar, then slice of onion until jar is filled. On top put more dill and another clove of garlic.

BRINE:

2 c. white vinegar, 4 to 6% acidity
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. water
1/4 c. pickling salt (canning)

Bring to boil and pour over cucumbers. Seal and process in water bath 10 minutes quarts, 5 minutes pints.
