YEAST BREAD 
1 1/2 c. warm water
2 pkgs. yeast
4 c. flour
1/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
3/4 tbsp. salt
1 egg

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Mix sugar, shortening, salt, and egg. Add flour - all but approximately 1/2 cup. Stir in yeast and let stand until double in size. Punch down. Roll in the remaining flour. May need a small amount more flour, just to make the right consistency for handling. Knead just enough to make into loaves. Put into greased bread pans. Let rise again until double in size. Bake approximately 30 minutes in 350 degree oven. Butter all sides as soon as it's baked.
