FRIED NAVAJO INDIAN BREAD | |
4 c. sifted flour 2 tbsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. dry milk 1 1/2 c. warm water (or instead 1/2 c. milk and 1 c. water) Mix all ingredients, cover with wet warm cloth, let rest for 15 minutes. Pinch off pieces, about the size of a tennis ball. Flatten by pulling like small pizza, fry in hot oil, turn once, drain between paper towels, use for taco meat and toppings, like creamed chicken or other. Can be frozen after fried and reheated in skillet over medium or low heat. Makes about 10-12. |
