APPLE COBBLER 
5 Granny Smith apples, peeled & sliced
2 tbsp. water
1 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
6-7 slices (thin sliced) white bread
1/2 c. butter, melted
1 egg, beaten
1 1/4 c. sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pile apples in an 11"x7" or 8"x8" baking dish. Sprinkle water and cinnamon over apples. Trim crust from bread, cut each slice into three strips. Cover entire surface of apples with strips of bread, placing strips close together so that apples do not show through. Combine melted butter, beaten egg and sugar; mix well. Pour over bread, spreading to cover completely. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a rich golden brown. Best served warm from the oven with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
