ORANGE ICE - BOX CAKE 
3 eggs
1/2 c. cold water
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla or almond flavoring

ORANGE FILLING:

1 c. orange juice
1/4 c. lemon juice and some rind
1/2 c. sugar
4 egg whites
2 tbsp. cornstarch
4 egg yolks
1 tbsp. butter

Cake: Separate yolks of eggs and drop into large bowl. Add water. Beat until about 1 quart of mixture is formed. Add sugar gradually and beat well. Add sifted flour, baking powder, and salt. Beat. Add beaten egg whites and vanilla. Fold in gently. Bake in 2 greased and floured 9 inch pans at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Cool in pans for 5 minutes. Split layers in half and cool completely.

Filling: Blend all ingredients, except egg whites. Cook until thick. Cool slightly and fold in beaten egg whites. Spread 3 layers with orange filling. Place 4th layer on top. Cover with 1/2 pint whipped cream sweetened with 2 teaspoons confectioners' sugar and a dash of vanilla flavoring.
