1 c. sugar 2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. ground ginger 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp. ground cloves 3/4 c. shortening 1/4 c. molasses 1 egg slightly beaten Sugar Combine sugar, flour, salt, soda and spices; stir lightly. Cut in shortening to resemble coarse crumbs. Stir in molasses and egg. Shape dough into 1 inch balls and roll in sugar. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove from baking sheet immediately. Yields 4 1/2 dozen. |
