ROCK CANDY 
1 3/4 c. white sugar
1/2 c. plus 2 tbsp. white corn syrup
1/2 c. hot water
Food coloring
Flavoring oil
Powdered sugar

In heavy saucepan, mix together corn syrup and hot water. Boil to hard crack stage when tested in cold water. Add a few drops of food coloring. Add oil of any flavoring desired such as peppermint oil. Pour on cookie sheet that has been generously covered with powdered sugar. As it cools, cut or break into pieces.
