CINNAMON ROLLS | |
3 pkg. yeast 1/2 c. warm water 2 c. milk 1 c. sugar 1/2 c. shortening 10 c. flour 3 eggs 2 tsp. salt Soften yeast in warm water. Scald the milk; add sugar, salt and shortening; cool to lukewarm; add flour to make a thick batter, mix well. Add softened yeast and egg; beat well. Add more flour to make a soft dough. Turn out on lightly floured board and knead until smooth and satiny. Place in greased bowl. Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled. When light, punch down. Let rest 10 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. NOTE: After letting the dough rest, cut in 4 sections. Roll the dough out on a floured counter or table. (Be sure not to make it too thin or thick!) Then spread butter all over the dough and sprinkle with a sugar and cinnamon mixture. Take one side of the dough and very carefully roll it all together. Crimp the side once you rolled it to keep it from coming apart. Then slice the dough and lay on greased cookie sheet. After baking, let cool and dribble glaze on top. GLAZE: Powdered sugar Milk Vanilla Use your own judgment as to how much you need. These are fantastic! |
