HARD CANDY 
3 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 c. Karo syrup (white)
1 dram oil base flavoring
Coloring

Mix first 3 ingredients and boil to 300 degrees. Take off fire. After it stops bubbling, add flavoring and coloring. Fold this in, stirring as little as possible. Pour out on plates that have been buttered and chilled in freezer. Snip with shears quickly as it cools, turning plate and working around edges. Put out on powdered sugar to keep from sticking.
