APPLE BAVARIAN TORTE 
CRUST:

1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla

Cream together butter, sugar and vanilla. With fork, mix in flour. Mixture will be crumbly. Pat into greased springform pan.

FILLING:

1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Beat together cream cheese, sugar, egg and vanilla until smooth. Pour into crust.

TOPPING:

1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
4 c. sliced apples
1/4 c. slivered or chopped nuts

Combine sugar and cinnamon; toss with apples. Arrange apples atop filling and crust. Sprinkle with nuts. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes; reduce heat, and bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Serve warm or cold.
