SNOWDRIFT COOKIES 
1 c. Snowdrift
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. almond extract
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 c. finely chopped nuts
1 jar maraschino cherries

Cream shortening and softened cream cheese. Add sugar, egg and almond extract. Sift dry ingredients together and stir into creamed mixture. Chill dough 2 hours. Form into 1" balls. Roll balls in finely chopped nuts, place on greased cookie sheet. Half the maraschino cherries, place a half on center of cookie balls and press down.
