ICE CREAM SANDWICHES 
1 egg
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 pkg. devil's food cake mix
1/2 gal. ice cream

Heat oven at 350 degrees. Beat egg, shortening, butter, vanilla, and about 1/2 of the cake mix (dry) until smooth. Stir in remaining cake mix. Divide dough into 4 equal parts. Roll each part into rectangle. Cut into squares or desired shape. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until edges set. Prick surface of cookies lightly with fork. Cool then remove from baking sheet. Cut ice cream and place between 2 cookies. Wrap aluminum foil and freeze 24 hours.
