1 3/4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 stick butter
1/3 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1 unbeaten egg
1 tsp. vanilla
Hershey kisses
2 tbsp. sugar

Combine dry ingredients. Cream shortening, peanut butter. Add sugars, egg, and vanilla - creaming well. Blend in dry ingredients. Mix well. Shape into one inch balls - roll in sugar and place on greased baking sheet.

Bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes. Remove from oven, place a Hershey kiss into each cookie - pressing down firmly. Return to oven 2-5 minutes longer until golden brown.
