HOBO BREAD 
1 1/2 c. white raisins
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. boiling water
1 c. white sugar
3 tbsp. shortening
1 egg
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Pour water over raisins and soda. Let cool. Combine the sugar, shortening, egg, flour, salt, and nuts. Mix into cooled raisins. Fill 3 greased #2 cans half full of batter.

Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes, or until top is firm. Cool, then remove from the cans.
