SPLIT PEA VEGETABLE SOUP 
1 lg. potato
2 carrots
2 stalks celery
1/2 sm. onion
2 qts. water
2 c. dry split peas
1 tbsp. fat
1 tbsp. salt
Pepper to taste
1/2 med. head cabbage

Cut potato, carrots, celery and onion. Bring water to boil. Add split peas, fat, salt, pepper and vegetables except cabbage. Cook 45 minutes. Cut up cabbage, add cabbage and cook 15 minutes longer. Makes 6 servings about 1 1/3 cup each.
