2 c. chopped, cooked beets
2 c. chopped tart apples
1/4 to 1/2 c. thinly sliced onions
2 to 3 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 tsp. salt
A generous grating of nutmeg
If apples are very tart, add 1 tbsp. sugar
If apples are very bland, 2 tbsp. lemon juice

Grease a casserole. Mix together and put in casserole all ingredients except butter. Dot with butter. Cover and bake in preheated 325 degree oven for about 1 hour. Serves 4.
