1/3 c. sugar 1/3 c. Crisco 1 tsp. salt 1 c. milk, scalded 1 cake of compressed yeast 1/4 c. lukewarm water 2 eggs, beaten 4 c. all-purpose flour 1/4 c. melted butter Add sugar, Crisco and salt to hot milk. Stir until shortening melts and sugar dissolves. Cool to lukewarm. Crumble yeast into warm water. Let stand 5 minutes. Combine milk and yeast mixture. Add eggs and half the flour. Beat well. Add remaining flour. Turn dough onto lightly floured board. Knead until smooth. Place dough in well greased bowl. Cover; let rise an hour and a half or until size double.s Roll dough to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into pieces the size of small walnuts. Roll into balls and melted butter. Place in 10-inch tube pan. Cover. Let rise until double. Bake at 350 degrees 20 minutes. Turn onto a plate. "Do not cut." Pull apart. |
