PECAN PIE SURPRISE BARS 
1 pkg. yellow cake mix
1/2 c. butter, melted
1 egg
1 c. pecans chopped

FILLING:

2/3 c. reserved cake mix (dry)
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 1/2 c. dark corn syrup (Karo)
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs

Grease bottom and sides of 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Reserve 2/3 cup dry cake mix for filling.

In large mixing bowl combine remaining dry cake mix, butter and 1 egg; mix until crumbly. Press in prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes until light golden brown.

Meanwhile, prepare filling. Pour filling over partially baked crust. Sprinkle with pecans. Return to oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes until filling is set. Cool. Cut into 36 bars.

FILLING: In large mixing bowl combine all ingredients. Beat at medium speed 1 to 2 minutes.
