IT'S NOT A CANDY COOKIE | |
saltine crackers 1 c. butter 1 c. brown sugar 12 oz. chocolate chips 1/2 c. chopped walnuts Preheat oven to 325°F. Lay greased tin foil on a cookie sheet, allowing foil to hang over edge. Cover foil with saltine crackers side by side (approximately 40). In a heavy pot, melt the butter and brown sugar, boil 5 minutes, stirring often. Pour syrup evenly over crackers and bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and turn the oven off. Sprinkle chocolate chips over baked crackers. Return pan to the "off" oven until the chips melt (about 10 minutes). Spread chocolate evenly, and sprinkle with chopped nuts. Cool in refrigerator until chocolate is set. Peel off foil. Break into uneven and random pieces and store in an airtight container in refrigerator. TIP: Use either unsalted butter or unsalted saltine crackers. |
