MELT IN THE MOUTH COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. light brown sugar, packed
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
3/4 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking power
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. nuts, finely chopped

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and vanilla, beating until light and fluffy. Add sifted dry ingredients and nuts. Drop by scant teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes. Cool for 1/2 minute and remove to wire cooling rack.
