COCOA BROWNIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs, unbeaten
1/2 c. cocoa
3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 8 inch pan. Cream shortening and sugar. Add vanilla, eggs. Beat until light. Add cocoa and mix thoroughly. Sift flour, salt and baking powder. Stir in dry ingredients. Add nuts. Spread in greased pan. Bake 25 minutes or until done. Frost with confectioners' sugar. Makes 16 (2 inch) brownies.
