2 c. flour
2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/8 c. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

PART 2:
1 c. buttermilk
1 egg, well beaten
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Part 1: Mix flour, sugar, shortening and salt until crumbly. Remove 1/2 cup of mix and set aside. Add baking powder and spices to remainder of mix.

Part 2: Add soda to buttermilk. Add beaten egg and add to part 1. Sprinkle top with mix of part 1. Bake 425 for 15-20 minutes.
